Kennedy Knight Crowned Miss Teen Hopkins County Fair
HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (07/27/2017) — A sister to Miss Hopkins County Fair captured the crown at the Miss Hopkins County Teen pageant Wednesday night.
Kennedy Knight, 13, will represent Hopkins on the state pageant stage in Louisville in October. Her sister, Kylee Knight, was crowned Miss Hopkins County Fair Tuesday night.
First runner-up was Morgan Seibert and second runner-up was Kristian Fox.
The 2017 Miss Congeniality award went to Savannah Hubbard.
Kennedy is the daughter of Chris and Debbie Knight. She is an honor student at James Madison Middle School.
Her hobbies include reading, horseback riding, being a member of the Madisonville North Hopkins Varsity Cheer Squad and spending time with her friends.
Kennedy said she loves to volunteer at Breaking Bread and making prayer blankets for the veterans at the Ballard Veterans Center in Hanson.
She plans to become a jockey and compete in the Kentucky Derby in the future.
She mentioned her mother as the person she most admires, citing her mom is a cancer survivor and has shown courage, strength and faith.
“She is an inspiration,” the queen said.
Knight was previously crowned 2015 Miss Preteen Hopkins County.
The contestants were judged in their choice of sportswear, interview and evening gown, with interviews being completed off stage prior to the sportswear and evening gown competition.
Pageant Coordinators were Melinda McGaw and Ginna Sarmiento, Master of Ceremonies, Tanya Bowman and Scoring was by Shelly Utley of Berry, Kington and Utley, PSC.
A special thank you was given to the Hopkins County–Madisonville Fair Board, Country Cupboard, Barbara Yonts Photography and to Kellie Heady Wedding Planning and to Mark of Distinction for stage décor.
Sponsors for the event were Merle Norman Cosmetics and Studio, Millay Orthodontics and All Occasions Formals. Judges were Hailey Berry, Bailey Bowling, and Vickie Ellis.
